Blazing Griffin Opens Scotland’s Only Cinema-Standard Grading Theatre

12th May 2026

We’re delighted to announce the opening of our dedicated DCI-compliant 4K grading theatre — the only cinema-standard finishing suite of its kind in Scotland.

The new theatre allows directors, cinematographers, and producers to experience their work exactly as audiences will see it on the big screen, with a fully colour-managed theatrical pipeline supporting accurate projection, final QC, and confident sign-off for cinema release.

Built to full DCI specifications, the suite is equipped with a 4K Christie CP4420-Xe cinema projector, a Baselight grading system, DCP playback capability, and calibrated Genelec monitoring — delivering both picture and audio at cinema standard under one roof.

The theatre is operated by our in-house Picture Finishing team — Gareth Bishop, Tom Cairns, Taryn Calverey, Lewis Carmichael, and Stephen Beavis — who between them have delivered colour grading on some of the most celebrated film and television projects in recent years, including California Schemin’, Glenrothan, Grow, Extra Geography, and Lady.

The development builds on our November 2025 acquisition of boutique post-production facility Brick + Mortar, which brought Senior Colourist Tom Cairns and Creative Director Jack Lang into the team.

Charlotte Walsh, Head of Post Production, said: “Colour grading is a vital part of bringing to life the vision and craft that has come before us on every project. To have elevated the creative service offering in Scotland for both our local and international clients is something we’re very proud of.”

Gareth Bishop, Senior Colourist, added: “We’ve built a really exceptional team across both the creative and technical side. Our own dedicated theatrical grading suite is an exciting step for us and helps to grow Blazing Griffin’s reputation as a post-production destination. Having great coffee in the room doesn’t hurt either.”
