Introduction

The entire galaxy burns in the final hours of the Triassic War. Your people, the noble but brutal A’Kari, work tirelessly to uncover the secrets of the mysterious Arc of Ascension, an ancient artefact believed to contain unlimited power and knowledge. Your sworn enemies, the deceitful Orthani, make endless war upon you, determined to steal the Arc for their own ends.

The A’Kari

The vast conflict has now spread to your homeworld of Aos, where word is received of a terrifying Orthani super-weapon, the ‘Erebus Platform’. This leviathan has the power to destroy whole planets – and its sights are now set on Aos.

With your warfleet at the ready, you sailed out into the stars to defend your home and the sacred Arc – but you were betrayed by one of your oldest friends, a fellow general who has turned Orthani defector. Ambushed just outside your home system, your fleet was destroyed and you were left for dead.

Now, with time fast running out for your people, you must rebuild your fleet through diplomacy, cunning and conquest. You must fight your way across the frontlines to face the Erebus Platform and destroy it completely – because if Aos falls, the Orthani will take the Arc and the entire galaxy will pay the price. In your way stands the vast might of the Orthani military, roving bands of vicious mercenaries, and the people of a war-torn galaxy who will do anything to survive. Should you defeat the odds and make it safely to Orthani space, the Erebus Platform awaits you – along with revenge upon a traitor you once called friend.

Gameplay Tips

Starting out with Distant Star: Revenant Fleet for the first time?  Follow these basic tips to help you on your way:

1) PURCHASE MORE SHIPS BEFORE LEAVING THE FIRST SYSTEM
Once you make it through the first battle, you’ll get the option to buy two new ships to join your Assault ship.  Purchasing a second Assault ship is a good choice, but any combination of ships will work.

2) BUY SHIPS AND SHIP IMPROVEMENTS
Ensure your fleet is at full strength – buy new Ships, Attachments (ship improvements), or Repairs from the left-hand panel in the Fleet Browser when they are made available.

Purchases cost Credits. Credits can be gained via your story choices or loot drops from battles. You may also be able to pick some items up for free.

3) TRAVEL ACROSS THE SECTOR
In the final game, a new Sector will be reached from the exit point on the Sector Map. A journey across several Sectors will take you to a climactic battle with ‘the big bad’.

4) MAINTAIN YOUR LEVELS OF SUPPLY TO AVOID NASTY EVENTS
Each jump consumes 1 Supply for each ship in your fleet.  If you reach 0 Supply, there is a chance you will suffer a negative event when you jump, until you recover your Supply levels. These events include the disastrous effects of poor maintenance, crew mutiny, starvation, or a number of other nasty problems such as attracting additional enemies.

In the current build, you can only gain supply from story events.

5) KEEP YOUR DANGER LEVEL LOW TO AVOID HARDER ENEMIES
Each jump you make will increase the Danger Level in your current Sector, as your enemies become increasingly aware of your presence. The higher the Danger Level, the harder your enemies will become.

Some events will also increase – or decrease – your Danger Level, so choose what you do and where you go wisely.

6) AVOID DISABLING YOUR SHIPS AND GAINING CRITICAL DAMAGE
When a ship reaches zero health in a battle, it will usually be Disabled rather than destroyed. Disabled ships are automatically revived on your next jump, but have a chance of retaining Critical Damage. Critical Damage adds persistent modifiers that negatively affect a ship’s performance.

7) REPAIR CRITICALS TO AVOID SHIP DESTRUCTION
With each Critical added over 5, there is an increasing chance that a ship will be destroyed during battle instead of being disabled.

Use Repairs to remove Criticals before they become a terminal problem.

8) KEEP YOUR FLEET ALIVE TO AVOID PERMA-DEATH
When a ship is destroyed, it’s gone for good. If all the ships in your fleet are destroyed, that’s the end of the game and you’ll have to start again from the beginning.
