It’s with a heavy heart and fond memories that we remember our friend and all-round good guy, Ryan McHenry who lost his battle with osteosarcoma at the weekend.

Ryan brought smiles to the faces of millions of people around the world with his “Ryan Gosling won’t eat his cereal” Vines which quickly went viral and continued to gain popularity with each addition to the series.¬† In an interview earlier this year, Ryan Gosling finally admitted he does in fact eat his cereal and earlier today the actor paid tribute to his Scottish namesake, posting a Vine of him eating his cereal along with a touching tribute to the filmmaker.

The actor wasn’t alone in paying tribute to Ryan, with kind words coming in from around the world, including from The Independent, Vanity Fair, Huffington Post, The Guardian, E Online, TIME and Vine who posted a tribute on their Twitter channel.

Blazing Griffin’s Executive Director, Naysun Alae-Carew, who grew up with Ryan and worked with him throughout his career has setup a Just Giving fundraising page in memory of his long-time friend.¬† All funds will be donated to Sarcoma UK and Naysun notes;

“We started making films together as kids on handycams that no one should ever be subjected to and had planned on making films together for a long time to come. It is hard to imagine having another creative partnership where we will understand each other so¬†intrinsically. His creative genius extended far beyond his Vines and I hope that one day we’ll be able to share that¬†with the world with the screenplays that he wrote and would have directed.¬†

“For now, we want to honour his memory by raising funds for a cause that was personal and he cared deeply about so that he can continue to have a positive impact on the world.”

The page has raised £4,246.96 at the time of writing and looks set to break its target of £7,500 within the day.
